SUFFOLK COUNTY NEW LOCAL LAW PUT INTO EFFECT As of March 30, 2009, Legislators Nowick and Losquadro put into effect a local law requiring Restaurants to disclose prices of specials.. Restaurants shall notify their patrons of the price of all food items, other than beverages, served at their restaurant, including the price for desserts and daily specials. The price of food items shall be set forth on a Restaurant's regular menu, on a printed daily specials page, or posted in a manner and location so that the price of food items is readily observable by patrons. This law shall be enforced by the Suffolk County Office of Consumer Affairs. Penalties: civil penalty of not less than $50 nor more than $500 for each such violation.
NASSAU COUNTY NEW LOCAL LAW PUT INTO EFFECT As of February 15, 2009, Legislator Denenberg put into effect a local law requiring that every Restaurant shall provide written notice of the prices of all restaurant specials offered to its customers. Such notices shall be clearly visible and legible so that it can be easily viewed and understood by the customers. Penalties: civil penalty of not less than $50 nor more than $500 for each such violation.
